As part of our ongoing system improvements to ensure safe and reliable natural gas service, crews will be working this
spring and summer to replace aging natural gas facilities. We will be replacing pipe at the following locations:
- Wisconsin Avenue: Hawley Road, west to 60th Street
- 59th Street: Wisconsin Avenue, north to Wells Street
- Wells Street: 59th Street, west to 68th Street
- 67th Street: Wells Street, south to Wisconsin Avenue
- Wisconsin Avenue: 67th Street, west to 76th Street
We have planned this work in coordination with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation's Zoo Interchange project and to
minimize traffic disruptions to the area. Our crews will begin work on Wisconsin Avenue at Hawley Road in May and proceed west.
The entire project is scheduled to be completed by the end of September.
Most construction work will be done from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. If the schedule is impacted due to weather or
other circumstances, crews may work on Saturdays.
Our activities will require traffic control measures on the streets mentioned above through September, and we are coordinating
these measures with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Milwaukee County Transit System and City of Wauwatosa. We also
anticipate that Wells Street may be closed to through traffic for approximately six weeks, beginning in July.
Our work will be completed in two phases:
- Phase one replaces service main, installs laterals to individual homes and relocates some meters. We will
visit customers impacted by this work in advance to provide additional information, review the timeline and answer questions.
We leave information at the doors of customers not home when we visit.
- Phase two relocates facilities in road rights-of-way after the first phase is completed. This work does not
require us to disrupt service, but we may need to coordinate access to some residences. Again, we will visit those customers
in advance to discuss construction, coordinate driveway access and answer questions.
